Frequently Asked Question

How do I qualify to drive a state vehicle?

The Defensive Driving Test (DDT) is required for all State employees who will be driving a state issued vehicle at any time, including electric carts.  This is mandated by the State for liability purposes.

How do I make a reservation?

Call (909) 537-5174 or see our Reservations page for more information.

Why do I have to fill out a log and a daily inspection sheet?

The operator of a state-issued vehicle is obligated to inspect the vehicle before driving it.  This is a state mandated procedure to ensure the safety of the vehicle and its occupants.  Please see our Vehicle Inspection page for more information.

Does the contract with Enterprise mean that I do things differently now?

No.  To make a reservation for a state or Enterprise rental car, you will continue to call the Facilities Services, (909) 537-5174.  Vehicles and keys will still be picked up from Facilities Services.  CSUSB/State policies and procedures still apply to Enterprise rentals.  Vehicles should be dropped off in Facilities Services parking lot (behind EH&S).

The intent is to make the transition seamless for our clients.

Why do I have to follow CSUSB/State policies and procedures when I'm using an Enterprise rental car?

State employees are required to follow these policies due to regulatory requirements.   These procedures also limit personal liability.

Is there an age limitation?

Enterprise requires operators be a minimum of 21 years of age.
